Download Windows developer virtual machines – December 2016 build

Microsoft has released the December 2016 edition of their evaluation and licensed Windows developer virtual machines (VM) on Windows Dev Center. The VMs come in Hyper-V, Parallels, VirtualBox and VMWare flavors.  The evaluation version will expire on 8 April 2017. Evaluation VM contain: Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation, Version 1607 Visual Studio 2015 Community Update 3 (Build 14.0.25425.01) Windows developer SDK and tools (Build 14393) Microsoft Azure SDK for .NET (Build 2.9.6) Windows Bridge for iOS (0.2.161107) Windows UWP samples (November 2016 Update)

October Windows 10 development environment VMs available for download

For those of you who are constantly spinning up new VMs and installing a number of different developer tools and SDKs, these VMs act as a good base to starting on. The VMs are available for Hyper-V, VMWare, VirtualBox and Parallels users. There is a choice to get an eval version based on Windows 10 Enterprise 1067 which expires on January 17, 2017, or alternatively you can download the Windows 10 Pro 1607 based version and apply your own product

Windows 10 Enterprise 1607 now available on TechNet Evaluation Center

I think it might be accurate to say that Windows 10 Enterprise has received more attention in the last month than it has received over the entire lifecycle so far for Windows 10, first of all with the E3 and E5 subscription options (which don’t replace the VL editions, just in case anyone is still confused), and with the removal of some group policy options from the Windows 10 Pro SKUs. Windows ADK for Windows 10 version 1607 available for download

The updated ADK for 1607 is available here. I always recommend to download it locally for installation just in case you need to install it on multiple PCs, especially if you have a slow internet connection. For those of you just getting started with Windows 10, here are some of the changes that the ADK introduced since Windows 8.1 was released.
